In my first written review, I spoke very highly of my second Indiana Jones fedora purchase. It has the most famous teardrop crown in history and immediately puts me in adventure mode.
However, the Stetson Open Road has a "cattleman" crown and is very reminiscent of traditional western cowboy code grit and toughness. And that's a whole different adventure that precedes the teardrop crown of the traveling business class and city dwellers.
This is "open range" as its name tells us. Wide open spaces. Stars at night and ongoing camp fires. I wear it with the rim down in the front over my forehead and it may resemble a fedora to some when worn that way. But there's no doubt in my mind that this is a western hat in every way.
So far I've had numerous admiring compliments about the Open Road but I'm curious why no one yet has asked me where they can get one for themselves. It's not intimidating to look at and I wear it with pride. But that's not the end of the story because the "road is always open."
And I get lots of admiration about the Indiana Jones hat too. Both individual crowns, teardrop and cattleman, are tried and true classics of all time.
